Dan Karrer has been in San Diego since 1980 after traveling the world with his family. With his father in the Air Force, Dan was born in Hawaii and lived in Italy for three years as well as various cities throughout the United States, but San Diego is where he considers his home.

Working now as an EMT with AmeriCare Ambulance, he will soon be a Paramedic/Fireman. Dan has been playing the trumpet since he was in the 4th grade and started playing professionally out of High School. He was an Assistant Band Director at San Marcos High School for seven years and has worked with many North County High School Bands since 1991.

A former gymnastics coach for 7 years, Dan is also the pole vault coach at Cal State University, San Marcos and at San Marcos High School. He has started his own vault club in San Diego called Coast Athletics.

Dan played lead for the Sea World Beach Band in 1991-92, and then went to work for the mouse up at Disneyland, where he played lead in the Toy Soldier unit for the Christmas Parade for two years. Dan was also chosen as an alternate for Disney's All American College Band in 1995. A former member of the Palomar Orchestra for 4 years, Dan has been involved with many jazz bands and brass ensembles in San Diego. Dan has been playing with Skanic since 1996, and along with fellow HornStars Bruce Zimmerman and Darren W. Conway joined Dead Man's Party in 2001.

Dan has been a certified Massage Therapist since 1991 and has done work for the AVP and Bud Lite Pro Volleyball circuits and many other professional sporting events. He is also the Trainer for the North County Gurkha's Rugby.  Dan enjoys surfing, mountain biking and rock climbing.
