Darren Conway
Trombone
Darren W. Conway moved to San Diego, CA from Waterbury, CT in 1991.
He became enamored with the trombone in the 5th grade while still a young
piano
student. When he saw the school's music teacher demonstrating
the
trombone,
he just had to have one. Throughout school, he played feverishly
in Concert, Jazz and Marching bands, as well as the Pit Orchestra.
Darren's
West Coast music career began with the San Diego Bay Bones Trombone
Choir, which paved the way to his sex
change operation and
his/her
involvement in SKANIC, a San Diego-based ska band. Darren and
fellow
SKANIC saxophonist Bruce Zimmerman joined Dead Man's Party in 2001.
Among Darren's early horn influences are Earth Wind & Fire and the Saturday
Night Live Band. When he isn't playing with his bone, Darren, a chronic
smiler, works in the computer industry.
